Day and work activities for people with disabilities

Day activities for persons with severely disabilities

Day activities for persons with severe disabilities are intended for those who are unable to participate in other work activities due to a very severe disability or illness. Day activities that support self-sufficiency can include cooking, exercise, conversation, camping, creative activities and the practice of social skills.

Day activities can be organised, for example, in separate premises of the service housing unit, but not in a person's home. Day activities in accordance with the Disability Services Act are organised as a purchased service in Turku.

Day and work activities for persons with intellectual disabilities

Day and work activities for persons with mental disabilities are intended for persons on disability pension. The activities are organised in the city's own activity centres and day centres or as a purchase service. Supported work activities and supported employment are carried out in companies or other regular workplaces with the support of a coach.

Adults and young people visit the activity centre 2–5 working days a week. The daily content is determined individually. The aim is to find suitable activities for everyone to support their own competence, for example, various tasks similar to work, recreational activities and outdoor activities. Various products can be made in activity centres under guidance, for example, weaving and textile work.
