Spring 2022 courses
Melting glass on ceramics
Fri 6.5.2022, 17–20
Price: 10 €
The course is for making reliefs and other horizontally fired ornaments from coarse clay, on which recycled glass fragments are melted. As a result, exciting cracking glass surfaces are created on the surface of the object.

Präkäämö – Young people`s own art workshop
Präkäämö is a handicraft workshop for 10–18-year-olds, where you can carry out your own ideas through changing themes.
A youth card is required to participate in Präkäämö.
Activities with the youth card are free of charge. Some supplies have a small material fee.
A free youth card can be obtained from the 1st floor service point.
As a service of the City of Turku and due to stricter covid-19- restrictions we oblige everyone over the age of 12 to use the mask.

Sunday in Vimma
Art and time together
Sunday in Vimma invites you to spend a relaxed Sunday doing art and things together.
At the Event of the Day, which takes place once a month, the agenda includes art workshops and a changing program organized by young people with their own event and activity team, i.e., Ta & to.
The next Sunday in Vimma 3.4.2022 and 15.5.2022.

Open pottery and glazing
Handbuilding clay and use of potter`s wheel. Suitable for beginners, instructors will help you get started.
Wednesdays and Thursdays,19.1.- 25.5. 2022 from 13-16 and 17-20 (not on winter holidays 23.2. and 24.2.)

Affordable exercise all season long with a single load!
The affordable Student Wristband is intended for students in upper secondary education (general upper secondary schools and vocational schools) and higher education institutions. The wristband encourages the user to exercise when it best suits their schedule. The Student Wristband is valid for six months from the date of purchase, and the user can use it once a day to access a sporting facility of their choice. The right to purchase the product requires a valid student card or certificate to be presented.

A pupil can be assigned a special diet on the basis of food allergy or hypersensitivity and for religious or other ethical reasons. The need for a special diet is assessed in school health care. The special diet should be followed on a regular basis.
If the pupil needs a special diet for health reasons, the guardians should contact the school nurse annually.

åppi is a new learning app of augmented reality. Developed in Turku, it encourages pupils and students to walk along the side of the River Aura and introduces unheard stories from Turku. The app can be downloaded free of charge in Google Play store and App store and it is useful for teaching history, biology, visual arts and languages, for instance.

City of Turku and Bayer. For the part of the City of Turku, STEAM Turku is responsible for implementation.

Registration for Beyond 2030 Challenge 2021 is closed.
Beyond 2030 Challenge – combine science and technology, save the planet and humanity
Registration for the competition will open on August 11, 2021 and end on October 25th 2021 at 23.59. All Finnish high school and vocational education students in teams of 1-4 persons can jointhe competition.
To enter the competition, the teams will prepare a one-page description of their science project by October 25, 2021. The description will be submitted electronically via the link below.

The Challenge
Beyond 2030 Challenge is a science competition organised by the City of Turku and Bayer. The competition is supported by academics and industry. In the competition, upper secondary education students in groups of one to four people develop new ideas, innovations and applications that
a) help save the environment (solutions related to climate change, sustainable development, circular economy etc.) and/or
b) help save humanity (solutions related to social environment, wellbeing technology, reducing poverty and illnesses etc.)

1. Registration phase
The teams of one to four members create a short description of their science project by the 25th of October. The description must include:
1) Short description of the idea
The proposed solution may be related to, for instance, climate change prevention, sustainable solutions, wellbeing technology, health technology, reducing poverty or illnesses, reducing littering of seas or other prevention of threats to the future of humanity and/or the planet. Creativity, innovation and STEAM spirit are considered a plus!

Guidelines for accidents at school
Turun iltalukio tarjoaa maahanmuuttajille suomen kielen alkeis- ja jatkokursseja. Nämä Finnish for Foreigners -kurssit on tarkoitettu niille, joilla on oleskelulupa ja jotka haluavat opiskella työpäivän jälkeen. Kaikkien kurssien suorittaminen kestää kaksi vuotta. Opiskelija voi suorittaa myös osan kursseista.
Lukuvuonna 2021–2022 alkeiskurssit pidetään tiistaisin ja torstaisin klo 16.15–17.35. Seuraavat alkeiskurssit ovat: FIN4 (periodi 14.2.–7.4.2022) sekä FIN5 (periodi 11.4.–2.6.2022). FIN4-kurssi lähtee taitotasolta A1.2.

Café Navigare is an inviting summer café on the back deck of the ship, with a view to the riverside landscape of the Aura River.
The café serves fresh pastries, savoury snacks and refreshing beverages.
Navigare’s deck areas on both sides of the ship are used as a café terrace. They are also licenced areas for serving alcoholic drinks.

The ship has several elegant and traditional premises for holding various celebrations, meetings and banquets. Most of the restaurants are open only by prior arrangement.

Spend an unforgettable hostel night at a museum ship! Charm and atmosphere of an old cruise ship.
S/S Bore, or ‘Zero Bore’ as Turku residents know it, was completed in 1960 in Oskarshamn, Sweden. The location of Bore, now a museum ship, and the hostel operating onboard the ship is ideal – on the Aura River, in front of Forum Marinum. The guests can even walk from the harbour to the hostel. A youth card is personal and free of charge, and it can be granted to young people between the ages of 9 and 18. The card can be used to participate in the operations of youth centres and to receive discounts in events organised by the regional youth work as well as benefits offered by companies.
The card is valid for one school year at a time. The cardholder’s information is checked and the card updated with a school year sticker every year.

Children and Adolescents' Outpatient Clinic provides specialist level examinations and care for patients who are under 20 years old and reside in Turku.
When your child becomes ill, primarily contact your local health station or a private clinic where a doctor assesses the situation and, if needed, writes a referral to follow-up treatment, for example, to Children and Adolescents’ Outpatient Clinic.

Studying in the ICT track
Kerttuli Upper Secondary School ICT track is a national special upper secondary school accepted by the Ministry of Education. It is a continuation of the ‘future’s professionals of information technology and media’ track that began in autumn 2000, and it functions in close interaction with higher education institutions and business life.

Over 30 sports are represented in Kerttuli Upper Secondary School. Sport-specific morning coaching is given in 14 sports with 23 sports coaches. The athletes of other sports participate in attribute training or train in ways that have been agreed on separately and according to programmes designed by their own coaches.
