Financial assistance for cars and car-related aids and devices is granted on a discretionary basis primarily to young people and people of working age with severe disabilities. It may also be granted for the everyday transport of a disabled child that uses an electric wheelchair.

Aids and devices for a car
A person with severe disabilities may apply for compensation for necessary modifications and/or additional devices and aids required by the disability. Financial assistance for a car or car-related aids and devices is granted on a discretionary basis primarily to young people and people of working age with severe disabilities but also to the everyday transport of a severely disabled child using an electric wheelchair.

Family care for persons with intellectual disabilities is organised either as short-term or long-term family care. Service in this case means 24-hour care in a private home.
A commission agreement is concluded with the family carer, which defines the content and duration of the care. The Welfare Division pays the fees and compensation for expenses for the carers in accordance with the agreement.

Housing services are provided to persons with an intellectual disability tailored to the person's individual needs. When assessing housing options, the person's need for help, care and guidance in daily life is taken into account.
Services can be provided in different housing units, group homes and residential care facilities, or as a service to one’s own home.

The disability services psychologist serves residents aged over 16 who need special services due to an intellectual disability.
The psychologist cooperates with other social and health care professionals.

- supportive individual visits
- cognitive examinations
Day activities for persons with severely disabilities
Day activities for persons with severe disabilities are intended for those who are unable to participate in other work activities due to a very severe disability or illness. Day activities that support self-sufficiency can include cooking, exercise, conversation, camping, creative activities and the practice of social skills.

Personal assistance is provided to a person with a severe disability who needs the assistance of another person in their daily activities:
- to work and study
- to participate in hobbies
- to participate in society, or
- to maintain social interactions.
You can apply for personal assistance at the city's services for the disabled. The social worker evaluates the way the service is implemented in cooperation with the client. Different practices can be combined.

Applications concerning the services or measures of support of the Disability Services must be sent in writing. You should enclose a medical certificate from a health centre doctor and, if needed, other expert’s opinions and reports.
Applications concerning disability services must be sent beforehand, e.g. before commencing any alteration work in an apartment.
It is possible to call the social workers during the phone hour and book an appointment or a home visit. They can also give further information about the services and how to apply for them.
