Life in Turku – Elämää Turussa – are stories about people, people from Turku and friends of Turku. Ordinary everyday life and things to do with it, exceptional moments and turning points, work, and childhood. Turku's stories are the stories of its residents and their history.

The Linnanniemi area, located on the furthest tip of the Turku peninsula, will experience major changes over the next decades. The ten competition proposals that were successful in the Linnanniemi idea competition have been used in the planning of the area.
The winning proposition of the Linnanniemi idea competition, which took place in 2020, was the proposal entitled Kolme palaa (‘Three pieces’) by the Lithuanian-Finnish group After Party. In the proposal, the museum building is placed in the current terminal area, right by the water.

A whole new museum will be built in Turku!
The new Museum of History and the Future will create experiences and be a source of inspiration and a domestic and international cultural destination. The museum will become a meeting place for the people of Turku.

Gateway to the west for passenger traffic
Turku harbour, or the Port of Turku, has good ship connections to the west. Viking Line and Tallink Silja have daily morning and evening departures from Turku and Stockholm. The ships stop by Åland on the way and stay only for a little more than an hour at the harbours where they turn.
