New customer at the immigrant office
The services of the immigrant office are targeted at immigrants with refugee backgrounds in Turku who have lived in Finland for a maximum of three years.
Sign up at the immigrant office info desk Mon–Fri 9–10 a.m. and take your ID card, residence permit decision and rental agreement with you.

The unit of the Social Work for Adults provides social services for Turku residents who are over the age of 18 and who do not have minor children living in their household. Social Work for Adults supports you in stressful life situations, you hope for a change in your life or you feel that a wide range of challenges have piled up and you are not sure how you will move forward with your life.

In the units of the Social Work for Families with Children, the social workers assess the service needs in cooperation with the client, with his or her relatives and with other actors in case it is necessary. Other workers of the team can also participate in the evaluation of the service needs of the client.
Every resident of a municipality has the right for the evaluation of the service needs based on the Social Welfare Act.
During the evaluaton of the service needs
Social Guidance includes counselling, advising and support in the use of the social services. The Social Advisor helps you to find suitable social services and to combine different forms of social service as well as gives advice related to your rights as a customer. You can get practical helps in taking care of your matters such as filling in applications.
Social Advisor provides guidance and support specially for the adults of the family or for example for a young person who wants to become independent.
Social Work for Families with Children supports you in difficult situations when you want to have a change in your life or when you feel overwhelmed by several kinds of challenges and you aren't sure how to get forward in life.
Social Work for Families with Children is done in cooperation with the family. The social workers search for suitable solutions depending on the situation of each family. They encourage the families in the change and work in cooperation with the network of the city and each family.

Contact, or a notification in accordance with the Social Welfare Act, can be made on a child or an adult, who is clearly in need of social welfare measures.

Basic Social Assistance
You can apply for the basic social assistance from Kela. Please find further information about the matter:
The applications will be treated in the order of arrival latest in seven weekdays.
In case there are deficiencies in your application, we will ask you for further information when the processing time will get longer.
Payment of the Social Assistance
In general, you can withdraw the Basic Social Assistance from your banc account in three bank days since the payment has been made after receiving the decision. You can check the payments of the basic social assistance by signing in the service Omapalvelu.
The Initial social services gives you general information on the social services. You will also get help in applying for complementary and preventive social assistance.
